• Watch Your Child: Prevent lip, cheek, or tongue biting while numb (very common).
• Food/Drink: Offer soft, cool foods; avoid chewing until normal sensation returns/ Until anesthesia wears off.
• Lip Bite Happens? Clean gently, apply a cold compress for 10 minutes on/off, and call if it blisters or worsens.

• Pain increases after 48 hours, or sensitivity persists beyond a week.
• A piece chips off or food keeps packing in the space.

First Day

• Gauze Pressure: Bite firmly on gauze for 20–30 minutes; replace if needed.
• After 30 minutes, wash hands, dispose of the cotton in a dustbin (preferably medical waste), and wash hands again.
• You may have plain ice cream (without nuts, seeds, or fruits) after 30 minutes of tooth extraction.
• No Straw/Sipper bottle/Spitting: Avoid straws, spitting, or vigorous rinsing on that day, as it may dislodge the clot.
• Food: Eat soft, cool foods; avoid hot, spicy, or crumbly items.
• Pain Relief: Use only the advised dose according to age and weight. Avoid aspirin.

Mouth Care

• Today: Do not brush the socket area; brush other teeth gently.
• Tomorrow: Start gentle warm salt-water rinses after meals (½ tsp salt in a cup of warm water). Brush normally elsewhere.

Call Us If

• Bleeding does not slow after 1 hour of firm gauze pressure.
• Swelling, fever, foul smell or taste, or pain worsens after 48 hours.

Do’s

• Brush around bands and wires carefully; floss where instructed.
• Eat smart: Avoid very sticky candies, toffees, and hard nuts on that side.
• Check the seat: If it feels loose or pokes, call us.

Don’ts

• Do not eat or drink anything, including water, for the first 30 minutes.
• Avoid playing with it using fingers or tongue.
• Do not bend or pull the wire.

Call Us If

• It loosens, rubs a sore spot, or food keeps getting stuck.

( A paint-on medicine that can stop decay but darkens the treated spot)

What’s Normal

• Dark brown or black color where the cavity medicine was applied—this means it’s working.
• No pain is expected.

Home Care

• Keep brushing twice daily with fluoridated toothpaste.
• Avoid picking at dark areas.

Follow-Up

• We’ll reassess and may place a filling or crown later for shape or color.

Call Us If

• You notice sensitivity Pain swelling, or the area chips.

What’s Normal

• Teeth may feel “slightly rough”; mild gum tenderness can occur.

Home Care

• Eating/Drinking: After varnish, avoid very hot drinks and hard, crunchy foods for 4–6 hours.
• Brushing: Brush and floss as normal tonight unless advised otherwise.

Call Us If

• Gum soreness lasts beyond 48 hours or bleeding persists.

Braces

• Normal: Mild pressure or soreness for 1–3 days.
• Home Care: Eat soft foods, use orthodontic wax on pokey spots, rinse with salt water, and clean carefully around brackets.
• Call: For broken wires or brackets, or sores that do not improve.

Clear Aligners (Invisalign)

• Normal: Tightness for 1–2 days after a tray change; slight lisp that fades.
• Home Care: Wear 20–22 hours per day, remove for eating or drinking anything except water, brush and floss before reinserting, and store in the case.
• Call: If trays do not seat fully, crack, are lost, or sore spots last beyond 48 hours.

• Fever, facial swelling, or spreading redness.
• Bleeding that does not slow with firm gauze pressure.
• Pain that worsens after 48 hours or disrupts sleep.
• Bad smell or taste with increasing pain.
• A crown or space maintainer that loosens or comes off.
• A filling that breaks or food packing that does not resolve.
